Fontimayor Assumes CTFLC Presidency 2018-2020

Last December 9, 2018, a new set of CTFLC P were elected and they were immediately sworn into office by Dr. Matriano.

CTFLC HONORS DR. ATILIO V. ALICIO  Celebrating a Life of Service and a Life Fulfilled  By: Salvador S. Idos  Dr. Atilio V. Alicio, an icon in the academia and a notable community leader,  retires from UCSD and SDSU after 50 years of dedicated and fruitful service to the  youth and language learners.  In honor of Dr. Alicio’s remarkable career, the Council for Teaching Filipino  Language and Culture (CTFLC ) headed by its President, Farah Mendoza along with  the designated various committees and members, tendered a truly joyous and  spirit-filled retirement celebration cum program at the Bay Terraces Community  and Senior Center, San Diego, on Feb. 25, 2023.  Dr. Alicio, fondly called “Tily” by people close to him, is a native of Cataingan,  Masbate, the southernmost part of the Bicol Region. “Dalawang Baybayin/Two Shores”, a Virtual intercultural Exchange Program a Success!

The Council for Teaching Filipino Language and Culture (CTFLC) and San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) held its virtual Closing Program for the Dalawang Baybayin/Two Shores, a Virtual Intercultural Exchange Program this year on May 20 & 21, 2022, both San Diego and Philippines via Zoom. Two countries, the Philippines and the United States, worked for seven months.  The project started with a virtual kickoff on October 15, 2021.  The project was participated in by schools from the Philippines and schools from Sweetwater Union High School District, San Diego Unified School District, and Poway Unified School District.  The schools from San Diego were Bonita Vista, Eastlake High School, Eastlake Middle, Olympian High School, Otay Ranch High School, and Sweetwater High School.  These schools are from Sweetwater Union High School District.  From Poway Unified School district were Mr. Carmel High School and Westview High School.  From the San Diego Un...
