CTFLC to receive Asian Heritage Award in Education
Very exciting news, "CTFLC to receive Asian Heritage Award in Education".
The Asian Heritage Awards has awarded to the Council of Teaching Filipino Language and Culture (CTFLC) the "2013 Asian Heritage Award in Education". With its roots in San Diego, CTFLC is well-known globally for teaching the language and culture to Filipino-American students, as well as its outreach to other groups of Asian heritage.
CTFLC is being honored for its pioneering work and preservation of culture through its achievement in obtaining accreditation for teachers of Filipino through the passage of AB 420 and its efforts to help spur recognition of other languages and a becoming a model for other languages taught in schools. There are also 11 other honoree recipients receiving awards in their respective categories and along with the honored UCSD Chancellor Pradeep Khosla, who will be receiving the Society's highest honor - the Special Recognition Award. The Society will be hosting the Tenth Annual Gala Ceremony on 14th Sept. 2013 at the San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina (333 W. Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA).
The Asian Heritage Awards is an annual event to recognize and honor the Asian American achievements of individuals and organizations who have shown tremendous excellence in categories ranging from business enterprises, education, sciences, medicine, humanitarian services, etc. The ceremony is hosted by the Asian Heritage Society, whom strive and are dedicated to growing "tomorrow's leaders" through its missions of promoting diversity, leadership and cultural understandings; through their organization they inform and educate through workshops and forums to students in San Diego, CA and Asia to achieve awareness of issues affecting those communities and to collectively find ways to overcome those obstacles to achieve global harmony and understanding.
