Election of Officers Come Christmas Party Fellowship 2010

 “Thank you for another fun Christmas celebration we had – the food, the gifts, the games, the camaraderie, and the laughter,” quipped Dr. Cristeta Dumaran, retired English language/ Filipino teacher at Sweetwater Union High School.  Indeed, Dr. Dumaran captured in a nutshell, the essence of our culminating activity for 2010 held last 18th of December and hosted yearly by Dr. Estela Matriano and Ms. Carole Caparros at their cozy residence in San Diego.
To arm ourselves before our fun activities, we feasted on a sumptuous dinner consisting of kare-kare, litsong kawali, lumpiyang shanghai, sariwang lumpia, among other dishes. Ate Carole shared her warm apple cider drink with a hint of cinnamon.  The filling and delicious Filipino food brought the spirit and tradition of a true Pinoy Christmas gathering.
Next, we had our year-end CTFLC meeting.  The main agenda was the election of a new set of officers, with the following elected for the term 2011-2012: Rosalina V. Idos, President; Dolores O. Balane, Vice-President; Rizalyn M. Cruz, Secretary; Carole I. Caparros, Treasurer; and Farah E. Mendoza, Public Relations Officers.  Dr. Estela Matriano thereafter inducted the elected officers, setting the tone for the need to immediately ‘take charge and get to business’.
The fellowship was followed by the ‘White Elephant Exchange Gift’ where it was filled with laughter and cheer.  The day’s event was concluded with singing of Christmas carols!

“Dalawang Baybayin/Two Shores”, a Virtual intercultural Exchange Program a Success!

The Council for Teaching Filipino Language and Culture (CTFLC) and San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) held its virtual Closing Program for the Dalawang Baybayin/Two Shores, a Virtual Intercultural Exchange Program this year on May 20 & 21, 2022, both San Diego and Philippines via Zoom. Two countries, the Philippines and the United States, worked for seven months.  The project started with a virtual kickoff on October 15, 2021.  The project was participated in by schools from the Philippines and schools from Sweetwater Union High School District, San Diego Unified School District, and Poway Unified School District.  The schools from San Diego were Bonita Vista, Eastlake High School, Eastlake Middle, Olympian High School, Otay Ranch High School, and Sweetwater High School.  These schools are from Sweetwater Union High School District.  From Poway Unified School district were Mr. Carmel High School and Westview High School.  From the San Diego Un...
